Castello Manor

1st Floor

  1. Entry Hall
“This wide and welcoming hall has plenty of space for guests to remove their boots and cloaks. Paintings of the Castello family adorn the walls and in the center is a long display case containing the broken remains of a lance entwined with a battered and dirty orcish banner.”
  2. Sitting Room
“A small sitting room for the pre-meal entertainment or for just finding a quiet place to retreat.”
  3. Dining Room
“A modest dining room with seating for ten people. More paintings hang on the walls here, mostly of landscapes done by local artists.”
  4. Kitchen
“This cramped kitchen is always very warm as the oven is kept burning at all times, not only for food, but to heat water and the room itself.”
  5. Mud Room
“A small mud room for the servants who move from the exterior buildings to the main house.”
  6. Inner Courtyard
“This fantastic courtyard is taken up by a stone reflecting pool that burbles and whispers pleasingly.”
  7. Drawing Room
“This large entertaining space is for large gatherings. In the room is an immense stone pillar taken from the Broken Bridge ruins. A continuing project to carve the family history of the Castellos has been mostly completed on the ground floor. Between the scenes of the family, stern gods look out in a protective manner. Abadar, Iomedae, Aroden, and Erastil are prominently featured on the pillar.”
  8. Tower Sitting Room
“A private entertaining space in the tower where guests can lounge and mingle.”
  9. Guest Bedroom 1
“The manor holds a number of guest rooms because travel times in the Avin Prefecture are so long. These on the first floor are modest but comfortable with doors opening into the courtyard.”
  10. Guest Bedroom 2
  11. Guest Bedroom 3
  12. Staff Bedroom 1

  14. Staff Bedroom 3
  15. Library
“A smallish library sits at the far end of the wing. Shelves contain many books on warfare, history, and geography.”

2nd Floor

  1. Trophy Room
“This room contains a number of display cases featuring weapons, books, and other treasures. The walls are covered in battered shields whose heraldry depicts numerous enemies of Taldor. Banners hang between the shields, mostly in Taldan colors. A large statue depicting a long-dead Castello patriarch stands next to the pillar. Work has only just started on this level, which shows the events leading up to the ennoblement of the family and their current status.”
  2. Office
“The office of the viscount, where the matters pertaining to the holding are handled.”
  3. Prep Room
“A small room for the servants to prepare themselves to serve the family.”
  4. Servant’s Quarters 1
“The higher ranked servants sleep here in four bunks. Sparse and plain, it is at least warm, dry, and spacious.”
  5. Servant’s Quarters 2
“The more junior male servants sleep here in eight bunks. The female staff stay in the separate servant’s house, away from the men.”
  6. Workroom
“A long and narrow room where servants can work on sewing, cleaning, and other tasks best suited to sitting.”
  7. Guest Bedroom 4
“The 2nd floor guest bedrooms are larger, intended for more important guests.”
  8. Guest Bedroom 5
  9. Guest Bedroom 6
  10. Library
“The second floor of the library holds many books on history, politics, and foreign works. A small corner sitting place allows a reader some privacy. On the north wall is a huge stained glass window depicting Aroden raising the Starstone from the sea.”
  11. Tower Music Room
“Musical performances are held here in this music room. Comfortable couches allow guests to relax and enjoy the performance.”

3rd Floor

  1. Ballroom
“This large empty room is not much of a formal ballroom, but it is used that way more than for any other purpose. The pillar here is completely unadorned except by wind and rain.”
  2. Music Room
“A small room for musicians to perform for balls. Shutters along the southern wall can be opened to let the music flow into the ballroom.”
  3. Narsius’ Old Bedroom
“Once the bedroom of the viscount’s eldest son, it is now the sleeping quarters for a regular guest of the Castello’s who spends long months with them.”
  4. Ailena’s Bedroom
“The Castello’s daughter Ailena stays in this room.”
  5. Bedroom
“An empty bedroom for highly important guests, it was always intended for a third child, but the Castellos never had another.”
  6. Master Suite Sitting Room
“A small sitting room for the family. The Castellos usually ate breakfast together. The table has been moved closer to the corner now that Narsius is no longer at home.”
  7. Master Suite Lavatory
“A luxury, an indoor lavatory for the viscount and his wife.”
  8. Master Suite Bedroom
“The Castellos sleep here with a fantastic view to the south.”
