Chief Enumerator Abrun Palliettor

The high priest of the Yanmass temple of Abadar, the Chief Enumerator traditionally holds a principal seat on the Mercantile Council, but strives to maintain neutrality with all the other members by voting with the majority and only involving themselves as spiritual advisors or to break ties.

The current Chief Enumerator is Abrun Palliettor, a formidable cleric of Abadar with a reputation for totally scrupulous dealings and for his past as a caravan guard. On one of those caravans, his leg was injured and not treated quickly enough, leaving him permanently lame. He also lost an eye at some point, but the story behind that has yet to be told.

The party met him at the Council, where he was a source of information on the Cult of the Twilight Child. He has also asked for the party to meet him at the Temple of Abadar.

The party met with the Chief Enumerator, and while they were speaking with him, a group of mercenaries attacked him. They had been hired to kill him by a mysterious stranger in a tavern. Their limited description of him seems to point to the Cult of the Twilight Child.

The party presented their evidence against Yander Merkondus, and with a number of high Diplomacy checks, convinced him to not only lend his magic to their attempts to negate the earl’s mind-control magic, but to go even further. As he saw the earl’s suborning of the Taldan Horse regiment to attack commerce as the greatest of heresies, he provided a scroll of dimensional lock to prevent his escape. He also called in a number of favors, pulled quite a few strings, and arranged for the local High Magistrate to be present at the council meeting.

This, combined with his direct support of the party, resulted in the immediate trial and conviction of the treasonous earl. Without his assistance, the matter would have been drawn out and possibly given Merkondus a way to avoid responsibility.
