Count Lotheed is the steward of the Palace of Birdsong and the count of Meratt. Like most Lotheeds, he is highly gifted in arcane magic, and he is known for his martial prowess as well. Also like the Lotheeds, he is arrogant, cruel, and self-centered.
As the steward of the Palace of Birdsong, Count Bartleby is the party’s primary foe in this part of the adventure. His support from the other nobles in the county, as well as the common people, needs to be eroded in order to weaken his authority before the palace can be seized. He must also be prevented from summoning aid from his grand-uncle, the imposing Duke Panivar Lotheed VI.
The party encountered Bartleby at his home during the Tanager Jubilee. They made a solid impression on the notoriously first-impression dependent nobleman, and were invited to stay in guest rooms in the palace itself.
