Nabil is a soulbound doll, a tiny construct that serves as a receptacle for a soul. What circumstances conspired to create Nabil is unknown, but he does know that it is not something he did voluntarily, it was done to him. On Axis, he is an astral astronomer, studying the Astral Plane. However, due to his artificially lengthened life, he is also a target for marut inevitables who police the boundary of death for those who violate universal law.
The party needed him to explain the constellation they saw in their vision, but in order to do that, Nabil needed them to save him from the marut who pursued him. They did, by convincing the inevitable that he is not responsible for his state, and thus his death would be a gross miscarriage of justice.
He then helped them to go to the Astral Plane to investigate the Lion Knight constellation. Once there, they learned of the six legends stolen from it to repair Carrius’ soul. He also gifted them with a magical telescope to help them find Taldaris.
